【SDGs】自然にかえる和紙製のマネキンで社会貢献（2023/9/2）

和紙を使ったマネキンを開発した岩下久起さん。
元々、マネキン製作工場が茨城県にあることから、地域貢献として、県の無形文化財「西ノ内和紙」を使用して和紙の需要を生み出し、認知を拡大することで、無形文化財を後世に残せたらと思ったのがきっかけ。
従来製造しているプラスチック製のものに比べ、5分の1の重さにまで軽量化に成功しました。
日本のものづくりを世界に発信、残していきたいと語る岩下さんの思い描く未来とは？

Mr. Hisaoki Iwashita uses Japanese washi paper to make mannequins. As the mannequin factory is located in Hitachiomiya City, Ibaraki Prefecture, he used the Prefecture’s intangible cultural property, Nishinouchi washi paper, to make the mannequins as a contribution to the region. It all started with the idea to create demand for Japanese paper and expand its recognition, making it possible to pass on such intangible cultural assets to future generations. He has succeeded in reducing the weight to one-fifth of the weight of conventional plastic mannequins. Mr. Iwashita speaks of putting Japanese craftsmanship on display for the world and preserving it for future generations. What kind of future does he envision?
