【SDGs】竹の可能性を引き出し次世代へつなぐ
放置竹林問題の解決に取り組む若山太郎さん。放置竹林とは、タケノコ栽培などで人工的に作られたにも関わらず管理されずに野放しにされている竹林で、土砂災害や獣害につながると懸念されています。そこで若山さんは、放置竹林対策として、栃木県産の若竹を使ったメンマを作り商品化し、誰もが散策できるように竹林を一般開放しています。竹を身近に感じてもらいその魅力を多くの人に伝えていきたいと語る若山さんの思い描く未来とは？
Mr. Taro Wakayama is working to find a solution to the problem of abandoned bamboo groves. Neglected bamboo groves are bamboo groves created for the purpose of bamboo shoot cultivation, that are left unmanaged. There are concerns that they may lead to landslides and animal nuisances. As a method of dealing with abandoned bamboo groves, Mr. Wakayama has created seasoned young bamboo, using young bamboo, from Tochigi Prefecture, and opened bamboo groves to the public so that anyone can walk around in them. Mr. Wakayama says that he wants to make people feel closer to bamboo and convey its charm to many people. What kind of future does he envision?
