規格外の野菜などを原料に建築材料を開発した町田紘太さん。
大学在学中、コンクリートのリサイクル方法や新たな建材の研究を重ねる中で、食品ロス削減や環境負荷低減など、社会課題の解決に関心を持ったそう。
そして、白菜を乾燥後、粉砕・熱圧縮して形成したタイルが誕生。
一般的なコンクリートよりも約4倍の強度があります。
将来的には食品廃棄物だけでなく、あらゆるゴミの価値化に取り組みたいと語る町田さんが思い描く未来とは？
Mr. Kota Machida developed construction materials using things like non-standard vegetables. In college, while researching methods of recycling concrete and new construction materials, he became interested in solving social issues, such as reducing food loss and the environmental impact of construction. He eventually produced tiles by drying Chinese cabbage, pulverizing, and thermally compressing it. These tiles are four times stronger than regular concrete. In the future, Mr. Machida says he would like to make materials out of all sorts of garbage, not just food waste. What kind of future does he envision?
